So-called fashion experts have often proclaimed that not every female can wear a mini skirt. What made these people “experts” and why should you give importance to what they have to say? No one should be able to tell you that you have no right to wear mini skirts so do not listen to whatever it is that they may claim as fashion “advice”. Instead, take note of the things you can do in order to look good when you do decide to wear a mini skirt and make the whole mini skirt wearing experience a happy one instead of an unnecessarily stressful one for you!
1. Do the Leg Work – The mini skirt is often several inches above the knee and this makes a female’s legs the first things that other people notice. While not everyone can have great gams like famous singers, actresses, and models, all you really need to do is take better care of your legs by doing leg lifts and getting your legs waxed regularly. You can add to your look by wearing tights or stockings, especially if you are wearing closed toe footwear. Just make sure that your tights or stockings do not clash with the color or design of your mini skirt. There is also leg make up that you can easily purchase in order to cover up any imperfections that your legs may have or just to give them that extra shimmer.
2. Eenie, Meenie, Miney…Micro? – Over the years, mini skirts have evolved and there are more designs and cuts to choose from. Remember to choose a mini skirt that will flatter you. If you want to play it safe, go with a classic A-line mini skirt or maybe one with a bias cut. A body hugging mini skirt and the micro mini, which is much shorter than your average mini skirt, suits younger fashionistas while those who belong to the older age group may feel more comfortable with a wrap around mini skirt, a kilt, or a mini skirt with pleats.
3. If the Shoe Fits – The right pair of shoes can make you look even better in your mini skirt. Try out pairs of boots with different lengths in order to find one which one will look best with your mini skirt. A nice pair of wedges will also give you that sense of balance in terms of your overall look. If you had to choose between a round toe or a pointed toe shoe, go with the latter. High heels and flip flops also look good with a mini skirt.
4. To Top It Off – Almost any top will look good mini skirts. You can go with a casual tank top to a sporty t-shirt or a collared shirt. You can have a more cosmopolitan look by adding a jacket, for as long as the length of your jacket does not end up covering the entire length of your skirt. You may end up looking as if you are not wearing anything underneath!
