JAZZING UP YOUR MINI SKIRTS

While mini skirts look good on their own, there may come a time when you end up tired of the same old look whenever you have one of them on.  There is no need for you to worry because instead of packing them up and never having them see the light of day again, you can update your mini skirt by adding the right kind of accessories, leg wear, or footwear.  The mini skirt has become a must have item for any female’s wardrobe and jazzing them up every now and again will breathe new life into this fashion essential.

1.      Flirting with Fashion – If you happen to be in a flirty mood, try putting a design-free mini skirt or one with a solid color or look together with a pair of patterned knee high socks.  You can mix this up further with some ballet flats or platform Mary Janes on your feet and a casual vintage tee for your top.  Feeling even flirtier?  Why not try some high heeled shoes and a soft top composed of an opaque, patterned shell and a tank top underneath instead?  If you want to turn the flirt factor down a notch or two or more, consider changing the top into a tunic or peasant blouse.

2.      Tights are the Trend – Mini skirts are called as such for a reason.  The shortened length is meant to show off your legs but if you feel as if your legs are not mini skirt ready, fear not because you can still wear your favorite mini skirt with a pair of tights.  Opaque tights are able to give your legs that much needed coverage without being too distracting.  If you plan on wearing the mini skirt to work, go for a monochromatic color scheme, so that will mean sticking with solid colors.  After work, you can do a bit more experimenting in order to come up with a look that says you are ready to have the time of your life.  Nix the monochromatic color scheme and go with colors that are fun and funky and mix them together with either coordinating go-go boots or a pair of patent leather flats.

3.      Try D-I-Y – If you have some free time on your hands and are feeling rather creative, there are a few things you can DIY (do it yourself) to make your mini skirt snazzier than ever.  Head on over to a fabric supply store and buy some fabric glue and a few meters of good quality tulle or lace that will go well with your mini skirts.  Once you get home, take your mini skirt and turn it inside out.  Grab one end of the tulle or lace and glue it to the hemline of your skirt, going around the entire circumference.  You can choose to have just one layer of the material or add several layers in order to have a completely different look.  If you prefer to sew the material to the bottom of your skirt instead of gluing it, go right ahead!
